CHALLENGE: Create an authentically gritty, cohesive look (branding, digital, videos) for an eclectic Brooklyn rock band on a shoestring budget.
SOLUTION: I designed the textured, angular logo in black & white so it could be inexpensively printed on merch, stickers, and packaging. Working closely with director Kris Merc (who recently directed videos for Justin Bieber and De La Soul) we captured the band's energetic dynamic. "Goodbye to All That" follows the band on an epic night in the heart of the East Village.
We envisioned "White Boyz" as a single take from beginning to end, with Kendra dancing her way through an empty nightclub, pushing aside her bandmates and working the crowd (of mostly white boyz) into a frenzy for the finale. The Paper Box in Bushwick was the perfect location in spacious size and cool-hued lighting for this fantasy sequence.
The website was a control room where fans could access all of the band's media channels at once. It incorporated a Spotify player and real-time posts from Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, so every home page visit provided fresh posts. The Wordpress template allowed bandmates to easily update the site themselves, and we could direct press to the site to download promo photos.
